Situation
The goals for Xilinx's Virtex-4 FPGA family were challenging and clear: to build embedded highly parallel DSP elements that deliver world-class performance while significantly reducing the power requirements.
Arithmatica solution
The Arithmatica team worked closely with Xilinx's custom design group to develop the XtremeDSP™ Slice that met both the performance specs and development schedule. The resulting design incorporated CellMath™ innovations that helped to improve the core DSP performance by 50 percent while improving MHz/watt by an amazing 8x over the previous generation design. The collaborative team met both performance and power goals on time.
